Frequently Asked Questions

How can I pay IMU from abroad?
Payment procedures can change depending on your bank and on the Municipality. The calculator and our services help you understand the amounts and the tax codes. For the actual transfer of money you must always follow the instructions given by your bank and by the Municipality that collects the tax.
What is "Rendita Catastale"?
It is the cadastral income, a tax value assigned to your property by the Italian Cadastre. You can find it in your purchase deed or in the "Visura Catastale". It is not the market value or the price you paid.
Do I have to pay if the amount is very low?
If the total yearly tax is below €12.00, no payment is required. The calculator automatically applies this minimum threshold, according to Italian rules.
What happens if I make a mistake paying IMU?
Mistakes in the form or in the payment may lead to penalties and interest. Using our services reduces this risk, because the amounts and codes are prepared and checked by our office before you pay. If something does not look right, you can contact us and we help you correct it without extra cost for our work.
Why should I pay for the service if the calculator is free?
The free calculator shows the amount and is designed to stay available to everyone. We are also developing an automatic system that will generate a pre-filled F24 form at a low one-time cost, without personalised assistance from our office. It will be released in the next weeks and will be useful for standard situations.

For more specific cases or for Municipalities with special rules, it is usually safer to let our accounting office handle the full process, so that calculation and documents follow the local regulations correctly.
Who handles the IMU payment and documentation?
The complete service is handled by our accounting office. We manage calculation, payment and documentation on your behalf and store the official payment receipts.

A 4-letter code identifying the Municipality (e.g. A123). It is mandatory in the F24 form when paying IMU.
Cadastral Income (Rendita Catastale)
The tax base of a property, calculated by the Italian Cadastre. It is the starting point for computing IMU and other property taxes.
Buildable Land (Area Fabbricabile)
Land that can be developed according to the local town plan. For this type, IMU is based on the market value, not on a cadastral income.
